San Salvacion (city)
San Salvacion is the capital of the nation of San Salvacion in western Usea. In August 2003, the city was invaded and occupied by the former Federal Republic of Erusea. This violation of San Salvacion's sovereignty became one of the instigating factors in the Continental War.[2]
History
Continental War
In August 2003, Erusea, under considerable political and economic pressure resulting from the Usean Refugee Dispute, invaded the nation of San Salvacion and occupied the capital. The city's government was deposed, and the city quickly became home to numerous Erusean troops. Local law enforcement units were replaced by military police,[3] who were aided by the secret police to maintain control of the populace.[4]
Under the Erusean occupation, the city was subject to nightly curfews and rolling blackouts.[5] Gasoline supplies were rationed to civilians, and all non-military internet networks were shut down. In addition to these new rules, the Erusean language became a mandatory subject in the city's schools. In the early days of the occupation, citizens used basic crystal radios to receive transmissions from the Independent State Allied Forces in North Point. These communications were eventually intercepted and ceased by the Eruseans.[3] However, a network of San Salvacion citizens formed an underground resistance movement, which performed various attacks against the occupation forces and fed intelligence to the ISAF in the east.[4]
A large freeway that was under construction at the time of the war's outbreak was converted into a makeshift airfield for the Federal Erusea Air Force's Yellow Squadron, which was assigned to safeguard Stonehenge.[6] The Yellow Squadron pilots frequented the Sky Kid bar along with other Erusean soldiers.[7]
Liberation
As the ISAF regained control of the Usean mainland, the Erusean military ordered its troops to retreat the west and establish a defensive line against the ISAF advance. The fall of Stonehenge on April 2, 2005 led to the rapid reinforcement of the town, including a massive influx of Erusean supplies and able-bodied men.[5]
Sometime in mid-2005, ISAF intelligence contacted the local resistance to coordinate the impending assault on San Salvacion. The ISAF assault commenced at midnight on July 10, when the resistance ended the blackout over the city. Despite fierce resistance from the Erusean forces and the presence of Yellow Squadron, ISAF emerged victorious, and the capital was liberated.[1] Crowds of San Salvacion residents flooded the city's streets, waving flags and singing the "Hymn of Liberty" (Usea's national anthem) in celebration.[8]
After the war, the freeway used by Yellow Squadron was restored and completed.[9]
Lighthouse War
During the Lighthouse War, the Osean Defense Forces launched Operation Shotgunner in the city on July 16, 2019. Ultimately, the operation had an attrition rate of 75%.[10]
Locations
Old Towne
Old Towne, named due to its being the oldest part of the city, is located in eastern San Salvacion. In the center of Old Towne lies a long thoroughfare known as Route 7, surrounded by plazas and historical buildings. During the Erusean occupation, the Erusean forces adorned the buildings with Erusean flags and banners to symbolize their hold over the city. A large monumental arch is located along Route 7 and was the site of intense fighting during the liberation of San Salvacion.[1]
San Profetta Airport
To the north of San Salvacion lies San Profetta Airport. Prior to the Erusean invasion, San Profetta was a civilian airport; soon after occupying the capital, however, the Eruseans converted it into a military air base.[1] Although numerous Erusean air units were stationed at San Profetta throughout the war, the dreaded 156th Tactical Fighter Wing (Yellow Squadron) chose the incomplete highway outside the city as its base of operations.[6]
New City
New City is located in western San Salvacion. The district is home to the San Salvacion government complex, capitol and central bank, as well as Peace Park and the city's main broadcasting station, at which Andre Wolske is a reporter.[1]

Trivia
- Along Route 7 in central Old Towne, there is a large archway flying three Erusean banners, which bear a notable resemblance to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France.
- Likewise, Operation Firefly bears a great resemblance to the Liberation of Paris during World War II, most notably because both events began with the intervention of a resistance group.
